I have many feelings about this that can be best described through this comment via Reddit:

“But it’s a double-edged sword. In this case, it feels like a good thing because it’s anti-Trump. But US intelligence has also coerced former presidents into doing bad things in the past. And we can’t forget the fact that the FBI strongly influenced the last election (James Comey letter).

Overall, I wish that the intelligence community behaved purely in the interests of the American people rather than for partisan or self-interest purposes. But based on Trump’s disparaging of the US intelligence communities, I don’t blame them in this case.

I just don’t want to find myself rooting for the political pursuits of the FBI/intelligence in one case and then against them in the other. We should all be rooting for apolitical intelligence that purely exists to serve American interests.

In this case, the line is blurry, but considering Trump is a threat to our national security and democracy, probably justified.”
