People – mostly white people — are failing to acknowledge the relationship between restricting women’s bodily rights and restricting people of colors’ voting rights. Stacey Abrams, Vanita Gupta, and Kat Calvin are not missing that connection.
They are right there, literally in black and white, when people are willing to connect the dots.
And McConnell and Graham are doing their damndest to make sure there is literally no appeal from unconstitutional laws designed to turn the country back to Reconstruction, when only white men who owned property could vote. You know, just like Steve Bannon wants.
Wendy Vicker is but one of the Federalist Society federal judicial nominees who not only refuses to say whether or not she believes Roe was correctly decided but also whether or not Brown v Board of Education was correctly decided.
Just like her handlers want.
Senate Judiciary is having hearings for her LIFETIME APPOINTMENT TODAY.
Now if we had a Democratic majority in the Senate, and Lindsey Graham was the Ranking Member of Senate Judiciary instead of the Committee Chairman, it is much less likely that this would be a problem. But you all have been listening to me rant about that since last year.
I’m seeing less and less daylight between “take their suggestions” and “live in that place wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross” that Sinclair Lewis went on and on about.
Or that place Martin Niemöller went on and on about, because I’m assuming that everybody who said “Who is that?” before the 2016 national Presidential elections – you know who you are - knows a little better who he is now.
