Today’s topic: Colorblindness.

No, not in “I can’t tell red from blue” but the “It doesn’t matter if you’re Black, blue, striped, polka dotted, pistachio cause I don’t see race as we all bleed red” type of colorblindness.

If you’re patting yourself on the back saying “awwww” then you need to go ahead and see your way out cause this video is so groan worthy. Colorblindness is incredibly racist. I don’t know who started the whole “if you talk about race then you’re a racist” but they’re completely wrong. Even raising kids in that mindset actually hurts and enforces racist ideals than helps. To be colorblind is to erase a person of color’s humanity. A POC wasn’t created in a vacuum. POC’s experiences with racism whether personal or systemic are what shaped them into the person that they are currently. To say you don’t see that, that you don’t see race, means you don’t recognize the struggles POC go through on a regular basis.
