A Space for People of Color, By People of Color. Be Cool.

Laurence Rossignol is France’s Minister for Women’s Rights.

After the social media backlash she received, including a petition demanding “sanctions” (I’m not sure what that means. I’ll just assume “negative consequences” of some sort) for her comments that has 15,000 signatures so far, she has since apologized for using the word negro (ok cool but you’re still racist), BUT she hasn’t apologized for insulting Muslim women.

Can someone please remind this woman that Muslim women have not asked for a white savior? They don’t need nor want white women telling them that they are oppressed for wearing a headscarf. Many of them aren’t forced to wear it. Many of them choose to wear it because of its ties to their religion and culture.

(Also if you’re confused about the tag, #ffffff is the color code for white)
